Hi, I'm Julia and I'm introvert.
Meeting people has never easy for me, but like most humans, I long for deep connections. So once social media became the thing I was on board and instantly started connecting with old friends and meeting new friends. It was great and it was easy. But...it wasn't the same.
And it became an addiction. I interrupted my work to go online to see happy family vacation photos from some long lost high school classmate I barely knew, reading through the string of angry comments stirred up from yet another divisive political post, and seeing the latest and greatest photos of soon-to-be digested meals. This was my social life.
Then one day sitting at a local coffee shop, I thought maybe I'm not the only one. As I looked around the room, it seemed like everyone was behind a screen. How is it that we're all here together at this moment, yet we're all socializing somewhere else. It was as if we all had this force field between us saying "I'm not approachable". It feels like it's getting bigger and bigger as we become more isolated and our view of the world is becoming more insulated.
